Notes
All tracks edited and mastered at Ullstein Studio, January 2006.Tracks 1 - 18 were recorded at Oto-date points in Wakayama; track 24 was recorded at an Oto-date point in Nakahechi. Tracks 19, 22 and 23 are excerpts from the "Tanabe - Following Sound" and "Nakahechi - Following Sound" performances.
Track 25 is a recording of the self-study event "Following Sound by Map: From Sengakuji to Sugamo." On a map, Suzuki drew a line due north from Sengakuji Station, near the house where he was living at the time. The line happened to end precisely at Sugamo Station. Marking each interval of 500 meters between the two points, he created 21 equal segments. Suzuki performed the first of these events in 1970 and again on several subsequent occasions. The cassette recording included in this CD was made on May 8, 1982.
Suzuki started at Sengakuji Station (2-17-3 Takanawa) at six in the morning and arrived around noon at Sugamo Station. At the outset, Suzuki made recordings every 20 seconds, but for this event, he recorded every ten seconds. The track is included because of its link to the Oto-date concept.
86-page catalogue book from the exhibition around Wakayama city with photographs of the installation, interview, drawings and essays.
