The masters were transferred and re-equalized at Westlake Audio, Los Angeles, April, 1974.
"A re-examination of the classic 1961 orchestral date arranged and conducted by Eric Dolphy, presenting previously unissued alternate versions of 'Africa' and 'Greensleeves' and a first-release of 'Song of the Underground Railroad'."
'Song Of The Underground Railroad' was the only take of the second selection recorded at the May 23 session. 'Greensleeves' was released in its original version impulse! AS-6 'Africa Brass'; the version heard here was a later take. The original master of 'Africa', heard on AS-6, was from the June 7 session; the version heard here is the precending take from the same date. 'Blues Minor', also heard on AS-6, is also from the June 7 session.
