The exhortation “Conosci te stesso” (know yourself) is an ancient Greek sentence carved in the temple of Apollo in Delphi.
Researchers agree, even with some differences, that with this sentence Apollo meant to command man to “recognize his own limits”.
Knowing oneself could seem opposite to knowing the world, but these two knowledge can be considered two faces of the same coin: philosophy is man’s outburst towards knowledge. A living contemporary knowledge cannot be in disregard of a mind that knows and of its conditions.
For me this sentence not only has the meaning of a question but also that of a statement: know yourself. From here I start a new journey through research based on the conclusion of the previous one. – Giovanni Sanguineti

L’esortazione conosci te stesso è una sentenza religiosa Greco antica iscritta nel tempio di Apollo a Delfi.
Sul suo significato gli studiosi, anche se con alcune differenze, concordano sul fatto che con questa sentenza Apollo intimasse agli uomini di «riconoscere la propria limitatezza e finitezza».
Il conoscere se stessi può sembrare in opposizione al conoscere il mondo, ma le due conoscenze possono considerarsi due facce di una sola medaglia: la filosofia è slancio dell’uomo verso il conoscere e una conoscenza viva e attuale non può prescindere dalla mente che conosce e dai suoi condizionamenti.
Per me questa sentenza non ha solo il senso di una domanda ma anche di un’affermazione: conosci te stesso. Da qui nasce un nuovo percorso di ricerca fondato sulle conclusioni di quella precedente. – Giovanni Sanguineti
