The "Spirit" book is 42 pages and includes pictures, a tracklisting (in English and Japanese) of this release, biography (Japanese only), discography (Japanese only) and lyrics (in English and Japanese).

The "Swing The Heartache book" is 10 pages and includes pictures and a tracklisting including information regarding the various BBC sessions.

The third book simply titled BAUHAUS is 18 pages of black & white photographs and is numbered on the back cover.

Disc 1 & 2 of this release were originally released in 1985 as a compilation of 2 LPs titled "1979-1983". In 1986, the "1979-1983" compilation was split into 2 separate releases with additional songs as "1979-1983 Volume One" and "1979-1983 Volume Two".

Disc 3 was released in 1989 as a separate release "Swing The Heartache - The BBC Sessions".

These sessions were recorded at the BBC studios in Maida Vale, London, for broadcast on Britain's national radio station, Radio One.
Session 1 (tracks 1 to 4): Recorded for the John Peel show. First broadcast on 3 January 1980.
Session 2 (tracks 5 to 8): Recorded for the David Hensen show.
Session 3 (tracks 9 to 11): Recorded for the John Peel show. First broadcast on 12 April 1982.
Session 4 (tracks 12 to 15): Recorded for the David Hensen show. First broadcast on 1 July 1982.
Session 5 (tracks 16 to 18): Recorded for the David Hensen show. First broadcast on 17 February 1983.
