Notes

In Japan, this CD was released and marketed as a CTI All Stars album, as shown on the OBI strip.
This Japanese CD issue was distributed by Polydor, celebrating the rebirth of the CTI label. It received the "SJ Seal of Approval" of Swing Journal, Japan's most important jazz magazine, sold over 150,000 copies and reached #1 in the Jazz charts in Japan.
Digitally Recorded on Sony 24-track equipment and videotaped in High Definition on location at Van Gelder Studio (Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey), June 19-21, 1989, and released in October 1990.
This recording is also available in the audio/video formats LaserDisc and VHS, as well as on Vinyl LP.
That was the first CTI project recorded on multi-track digital equipment, as well as the first multi-track digital session recorded by Rudy Van Gelder, who, prior to "Rhythmstick," had done several digital sessions recorded directly to a 2-track machine.
Curiously, five years earlier, in January 1984, Creed and Van Gelder had collaborated on the first CTI digital session ever, Claudio Roditi's "Red on Red," recorded live at Rudy's with a 2-track Mitsubishi equipment.
