Notes
All tracks were recorded when all artists were under 1.5 years old. (2003-2005).Special thanks to David Elliott.
CD held in a protective paper sleeve, a cardboard insert (12,5 x 10 cm) with a short press-release and a John Cage quote in English and Japanese, packaged in a card "LP-style" sleeve with an OBI-strip.
From OBI-strip:
"This soundscape is like a warm, sunlit place. It makes me feel happy, perhaps because it's like a flashback. It goes nicely with afternoon tea."___EYE
All babies are geniuses.
Have you ever listened to babies' musical performances seriously? The pieces on this album are live recordings with no editing. Playing zither, piano, steel pan, toy turntable and computer-controlled pacifier... 10 babies, all under 18 months old, are gathered together from several countries. You will be impressed by their unique sensitivities! "*Music for Baby!" (amorfon004) is a message to baby from adult; "Kindermusik" is a message to adult from baby!
From card insert:
"*Music for Baby!"(amorfon004), is a message to babies from adults. On the other hand, "Kindermusik" is a message to adults from babies. The tracks are live recordings of babies' performances, with no editing. They were recorded when they were all under 18 months old between 2003-05. Each baby played different instruments and toys. We can imagine their performances and sounds, but we don't normally have the opportunity to listen seriously to their performances. That's why I made it. I made many discoveries, like some curious new sounds and a strange "betweenness" which I've never heard before... Tirning up the volume, in fact it's very radical... It's different from an adult's performance: random, like the rustling of leaves or the sound of a game arcade. These recordings suggest a wonderful mix of beguiling naievety and zestful experimentation - their whole young lives being one big experiment! I would like to acknowledge the artists and their parents for cooperating in this project. - Yoshio Machida, amorfon.
